YOU HAVE FOUND YOUR NEXT CLUE!

The word “kilt” is a derivation of the ancient Norse word, kjilt, which means pleated, and refers to clothing that is tucked up and around the body. Scottish kilts originate back to the 16th century, when they were traditionally worn as full length garments by Gaelic-speaking male Highlanders of northern Scotland.

Kilt ~ a pleated garment dating from the 16th Century, when they were full length. “Kilt” is derived from the Norse word “Kjilt.” meaning pleated. I do wonder, tho, whether the wearing of kilts dates back much farther to the Greeks and then the Romans. Who can forget Brad Pitt, as the Greek Demi-god Achilles? His kilt had no plaid, tho!
